This course provides the skills and knowledge required to safely perform a low voltage (LV) rescue and provide an effective first aid response within the electrical industry. It is designed for workers who may be required to rescue a person from live low voltage electrical apparatus, excluding overhead powerlines and underground cables.
Participants will learn how to inspect and correctly use LV rescue equipment, apply safe isolation procedures, maintain safe approach distances, identify site-specific hazards, and respond to electrical emergencies in accordance with workplace procedures.
The course also covers the skills required to provide first aid to an injured person, following the current guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other recognised Australian peak clinical bodies. Training includes the use of industry-standard personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and practical rescue techniques.
Due to the high-risk nature of electrical work, this training is a mandatory requirement for many electrical industry and Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) roles where workers are required to develop or maintain competency in low voltage rescue and first aid.
