To suit the needs of different workplaces and can be delivered in one of two formats.

Two-Day Face-to-Face

Complete all theory, practical training and assessment over two trainer-led days. This option is ideal for organisations that prefer all learning to take place in the classroom.

One-Day Practical with Online Learning

Complete the online learning prior to attending a full day of face-to-face practical training and assessment. This flexible option reduces time away from the workplace while providing the same nationally recognised outcome.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

• Face to Face contact time of at least 16 Hours (2 days)

• Online with face-to-face assessment contact time of at least 6 Hours

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, participants must:

• Provide a valid form of photo identification (such as a driver's licence, passport or student ID).

• Be physically capable of completing the practical assessment activities, including performing CPR on the floor.

Please note: To meet the requirements of this nationally recognised course, CPR must be performed on the floor. No exemptions can be granted for this assessment requirement.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital Skills

To successfully complete this course, participants should have the ability to:

Learning

• Follow detailed instructions, apply new knowledge and make informed decisions in emergency situations.

Reading

• Read and interpret first aid procedures, safety information and equipment instructions.

Writing

• Complete incident reports, workplace documentation and assessment tasks clearly and accurately.

Communication

• Communicate effectively by asking questions, providing instructions and sharing information during emergency situations.

Numeracy

• Use basic numeracy skills when recording times, counting CPR compressions, monitoring casualties and interpreting oxygen flow rates where applicable.

Digital Skills

• Use a computer, tablet or smartphone to access online learning, complete assessments and navigate the student portal.

Online Learning Requirements

Participants completing the blended delivery option will undertake online learning before attending the practical training session.

To complete the online component, participants will need:

• Access to a computer, tablet or smartphone.

• A reliable internet connection.

• Basic digital skills to access the student portal, complete online activities and submit assessments.

The online learning component is self-paced and is expected to take approximately 9 hours to complete. This is an estimate only and will vary depending on previous knowledge and individual learning styles.

Support is available throughout the online learning should participants require assistance.

Participants are required to successfully complete both practical and knowledge-based assessment tasks. This includes demonstrating first aid skills in simulated emergency scenarios and completing the required written assessments in accordance with the nationally recognised training package.

Certificate Renewal

The industry recommends renewing this qualification every 3 years, with CPR refreshed annually to maintain current skills and comply with workplace or industry requirements.

Please note that enrolment in this course is completed through Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909).

To successfully complete this nationally recognised course, participants must demonstrate both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Practical Assessment

Participants will complete a range of practical scenarios and workplace-based activities, including:

• Adult and infant CPR

• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

• Oxygen therapy and resuscitation equipment

• Airway management

• Management of life-threatening and minor bleeding

• Asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies

• Choking management

• Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains

• Envenomation (including snake and funnel-web spider bites)

• Multiple casualty incident management

• Workplace first aid planning and risk assessment

• Maintenance of workplace first aid equipment and resources

Documentation

Participants will complete workplace documentation relevant to Occupational First Aid, including:

• First aid incident reports

• Risk assessment documentation

• First Aid Response Plans

• Workplace first aid kit inspection and servicing records

Theory Assessment

Participants are also required to complete a written knowledge assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short-answer questions.

All assessments are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the nationally recognised training package.

As part of the enrolment process, participants are asked to complete a short self-assessment of their core skills. This helps your trainer identify whether any additional support may be required throughout the course and assessment.

Participants will be asked to consider their confidence in the following areas:

Learning

• Applying new knowledge to practical situations.

• Planning and making decisions during emergency situations.

Reading

• Reading and understanding first aid procedures, safety information and emergency guidelines.

• Recording clear and accurate information, including incident reports and workplace documentation.

• Listening to instructions, asking questions and communicating clearly during emergency situations.

Numeracy

• Using basic numeracy skills to record times, interpret information and perform simple calculations relevant to first aid.
