Adelaide University Student Association Partnership

Northern Response Training is proud to partner with the Adelaide University Student Association (AUSA) to deliver First Aid and CPR training as part of the student employment program.

This program helps students gain practical, nationally recognised safety skills that can support their future employment opportunities across a wide range of industries including hospitality, education, sport, healthcare, and community services.

Through this partnership, eligible students can complete our Combined First Aid & CPR course, which provides training in:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

  • HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

This course equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond to common medical emergencies and provide assistance until professional help arrives.

Eligibility

This program is exclusively available to students currently studying at Adelaide University and is delivered as part of the Adelaide University Student Association employment program. Payments must be done through AUSA.

Course payment must be completed through AUSA.


Once payment has been made, students simply book into one of our public HLTAID011 Provide First Aid courses through our website.

  • Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units:

    1. HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

    2. HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

    3. HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • Course durations may vary, but the minimum required times are:

    • Face-to-Face: At least 7 hours 30 minutes of in-person training

    • Online + Face-to-Face Assessment: Online coursework with at least 1 hour of inperson assessment

  • To ensure participants can complete the practical components of the course, the following requirements apply:

    • Must have the physical ability to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor

    • Must be able to perform rescue breathing techniques on manikins

    • For online study: Access to a computer, smartphone, or tablet with an internet connection is required

  • This certification has an industry-recommended renewal period of 36 months, ensuring participants stay up to date with current first aid practices.

  • To achieve competency, students must complete:

    Performance Tasks & Practical Scenarios:

    • Perform CPR on an adult, including using an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position

    • Complete a first aid incident report based on a simulated first aid scenario

    • Perform CPR on an infant

    • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis

    • Manage a casualty with asthma

    • Manage a choking casualty

    • Treat a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning

    • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed

    • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation

    • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain

    • Treat a casualty with envenomation (e.g., snake or funnel-web spider bite)

    Theory Assessment:

    • A written multiple-choice exam to assess theoretical knowledge

  • Enrolment for this course is conducted through Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909). Students should review the Student Handbook for information about their rights, responsibilities, and policies, including complaints and appeals.
